HTTP 425 Too Early

HTTP 425 Too Early means the server won’t process a request sent as TLS early data because it might be replayed. The request contains an error or can’t be fulfilled. Retrying unchanged won’t help.

Class

Go constant
http.StatusTooEarly

What HTTP 425 means

TLS 1.3 lets clients send data before the handshake completes (0-RTT), but an attacker could replay that data. Servers return 425 for requests that aren’t safe to replay, like a payment POST, and the client retries after the handshake.

Retrying

Yes, usually. It is often temporary, so retry with exponential backoff and give up after a few attempts.

Example response

HTTP/1.1 425 Too Early
