Common JSON workflows
JSON tools answer different questions. Formatting makes a document readable; validation checks syntax; a schema checks structure and constraints; a query extracts values. A formatter cannot prove that an API response satisfies a contract, and a code generator can only infer the shapes present in its sample.
Debug an API response
Check JSON syntax, explore nested values and compare a changed response. Use JSONPath when you need one specific value, or jq to filter and reshape records.
- JSON Validator — Find JSON syntax errors and fix them in one click.
- JSON Viewer — Explore JSON as a tree and copy the path to any value.
- JSON Diff — Compare two JSON documents by content.
- jq Playground — Run jq filters on JSON, live, in your browser.
Create types and test fixtures
Infer a schema from sample JSON, validate it against another record, then generate a checked example. Language models and schemas are starting points: absent fields and business rules need your review.
- JSON to JSON Schema — Infer a JSON Schema from sample JSON.
- JSON Schema Validator — Validate JSON or YAML against a JSON Schema, with error lines.
- JSON Schema to Example — Generate and validate mock JSON from a schema.
- JSON to TypeScript — Generate TypeScript interfaces from a JSON sample.
Prepare JSON for code or configuration
Minify a payload for a request body, sort keys for a stable diff, or escape JSON so it can be embedded in a string literal. Unescape a logged string to read it again.
- JSON Minify — Compress JSON to a single line.
- JSON Sorter — Sort JSON keys alphabetically, recursively.
- JSON Escape — Turn any text into a valid, escaped JSON string.
- JSON Unescape — Decode escaped JSON strings back into readable text.
Keep IDs and numeric precision intact
Several JSON tools preserve numeric source text, including long integers and decimal trailing zeros. Code generators and some conversions depend on JavaScript numbers or destination-language types. Read each tool’s precision notes before relying on a 64-bit ID.
Compare structure, not formatting
JSON Diff ignores formatting and key order and reports changes by path. Use a text diff when whitespace or the exact spelling of the source matters, for example in a signed payload.
Frequently asked questions
Which tool should I use to check JSON?
Use JSON Validator for syntax errors, JSON Schema Validator for required properties and value constraints, and JSON Viewer to navigate valid data. They answer different questions.
Where are the JSON to TypeScript, Go and Pydantic generators?
Open Codegen. It groups every model and type generator by its source format, including JSON, YAML, XML and JSON Schema.
