Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what information DevToolsmith ("we", "us") collects when you use https://devtoolsmith.com (the "Site"), and how it is used.

Data you enter into tools

Conversions, file inspection and parser explanations run in your browser. These inputs are processed locally and are not sent to our servers. API tools send data only when you choose to connect to an endpoint, as described below. When you use a "Share link" feature, the data is placed in the URL fragment (the part after #), which browsers do not send to web servers. Anyone you give the link to can see that data.

Explicit network connections

The API Debugging Lab connects directly to the URL you choose. Clicking Send or Connect can transmit the request URL, headers, body, browser credentials if enabled, or WebSocket messages to that endpoint. The endpoint’s operator receives that data; requests do not pass through a DevToolsmith proxy. Requests and event logs are not automatically saved.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery providers (such as Cloudflare) may process standard request data, including IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit, to deliver the Site and protect it against abuse.

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which tools are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data in aggregate. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We may display ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through a certified consent management platform.

Local storage

We store a small number of preferences in your browser's local storage, including your theme, favorites, recently visited tool names and formatting options. Tool inputs, passwords and uploaded files are not saved as preferences. Offline support caches the site’s pages and program files in Cache Storage, so saved tools can work without a connection. This data stays on your device. Clearing site data resets it; it does not sync between devices.

Smart paste detects the text you enter locally and suggests tools; it does not read your clipboard in the background. Choosing a suggested tool passes the text through temporary session storage, which is removed when the destination reads it. It is not saved as a persistent task.

Workflow history is off by default. When you choose “Save task locally”, or explicitly enable automatic workflow history, task input, step settings and results are stored in IndexedDB on your device. Automatic history applies only to completed workflows and skips recognizable credentials and binary workbook inputs; API requests and security tools are excluded. At capacity only the oldest unpinned automatic history may be replaced. Kept tasks, pinned history and trash are not automatically removed. You can search, compare, export, restore or permanently delete tasks in Saved local tasks. Moving a task to trash retains its data until permanent deletion. Storage is not encrypted or synchronized; browser cleanup or eviction can remove it. Backup files include inputs, results and trash. Workflow exports and share links include input and settings, including encoded XLSX bytes when used. Anyone receiving these files or links can read their data.

Editor and clipboard integrations format locally. The optional browser extension passes a selected snippet to the website tab through temporary extension session storage after your explicit action; selected text is not embedded in the URL. Import tokens expire after two minutes and are removed when consumed. Integrations do not automatically publish, synchronize or upload your input.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because we don't collect tool input or accounts, we hold very little personal data. Contact us to make a request.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
